Permits and regulations vary from state to state. The Wisconsin Department of Commerce has granted a permit to FUELBOTE LLC based on current approved designs. The vessel and trailer conform to all Department of Transportation rules and regulations and was first permited for operation by the USCG in Florida. This allows the transport of a loaded vessel on United States highways and roads by a person possessing a simple CDL License with Hazardous Material classification. The testing and licensing for this is done by individual states but is recognized by all states.
On the water each state has a different department dealing with the operation of a FUELBOTE operating in inland waters classified as a Tank Vessel by the US Coast Guard. In Wisconsin for instance the Department of Natural Resources has jurisdiction on the water where we have operated without incident for 7 years. In some areas the local municipality where you launch may require a conditional use permit and some municipalities do not. Because the FUELBOTE is a new and unique vessel we can assist you in getting the proper permits. The FUELBOTE is a carefully engineered vessel that is perhaps the very safest on the water. We even carry environmental cleanup materials on board and can be retained to assist a water cleanup operation on a body of water. There are 3 barriers of solid stainless steel between fuel and the environment. With a DOT approved fuel tank on board years of tested technology makes the FUELBOTE an environmental winner. The fully trained professional pilot pumps gas while both boats are fully secured.
The USCG requires a COI (certificate of inspection) from each sector command where a FUELBOTE operates on USCG jurisdiction waters termed navigable. These waterways are defined by lists held by the US Coast Guard and are in public domain. We will assist you with any needed information the USCG may require.
A prospective FUELBOTE buyer simply requests an area or body of water they would like to operate in. This may include more than one body of water and in more than one part of the United States (seasonal pumping). A territory is researched by FUELBOTE LLC for viability and if agreed an exclusive right to that area defined is granted and no other FUELBOTE operator may be established there. The areas are defined verbally and using satellite maps printed with the Certificate of Authorized Territory.
A territory must be at least 2,000 residences. A new territory may be applied for during ownership should an operator wish to change locations. All permits to operate will be in the individual owners and FUELBOTE LLC name. A truly mobile business and one of a kind.
