FAQ’s
We understand that as a first-of-its-kind way to refuel on the water, there are lots of questions. We answered most common questions below, but please contact us if you have more that are not present.
Yes! Fuelbote will allow you to expand your territory and service other customers that don’t station their boats at your marina.
There are a variety of ways depending on the waterways and roadways in your area. The DOT tank can be bulk-fueled at a rack or nozzle fueled from a truck or independent tank. The Fuelbote vessel complies with all DOT rules to be on any roadway in the United States. The tank itself features a top-fill manway to allow for simple and convenient refueling.
No, but there are contractual agreements between Fuelbote and its dealers. A residual is paid only as a software license fee, there is no franchise fee upon purchase.
Territories are negotiated based on their size between Fuelbote and its dealers. Fuelbote sets up a “digital fence” inside which only the specified dealer can operate the Fuelbote and its software.
The federal Clean Vessel Act (CVA) is federal monies administered by each state that fund black and gray water extraction from marine vessels. The act will pay for the pump-out tank and equipment, the square-footage used by the equipment on the Fuelbote vessel, maintenance, and all the captain’s labor in emptying those tanks. You can contact us for more detailed information on the CVA.
Each dealer may decide this for themselves based on the competitive and market-forces of their territory. Some Fuelbote dealers have such advantage in profitability that convenience subscriptions are accepted by their customer base, but dealers decide on an individual basis.
Often times emergency filling is not practical for the dealer based on the distance they have to travel. The better solution we have found, is providing 20-30 gallon gas roll-aways that have the Fuelbote logo and remain on the customer’s pier or property. This allows them to have extra fuel when needed for jetski’s or high-volume use days. This also has the effect of increasing fuel-per-stop, and decreasing needed stops by the dealer to better serve their customers.
Because your Fuelbote customer has a boat or property on the water, no large-scale macro-marketing is required. To prospective customers, we generally distribute a water-proof postcard describing the service along with a coupon. It also comes with a water-proof business card and keychain floaty so they can always find your website for sign-up.
